Mental Health Awareness is a Lifelong Journey

Hello friends,

Mental Health Awareness Month is coming to an end but that does not mean we should stop being aware of the importance of taking care of our mental health, being supportive of others who may have mental health concerns, or increasing our knowledge about what mental health challenges might look like because guess what, these challenges are often invisible! According to 2019 statistics by the World Health Organization (WHO) 1 in every 8 in the world, that is 970 million people, were living with a mental condition that includes anxiety and depression being the most common ones. Of these 970 million people many go to work, are high-performing individuals, take care of families and loved ones, give to their community, and yet deal with secret battles.

By joining the global effort to increase awareness of mental health during the month of May, we hope that our #mondaymusings this month have contributed to shining the light on this important topic. It is so important to be able to talk about mental health openly and particularly in the workplace and as we try to navigate our careers. So here are some key reminders:

We at Konseye: The Mentorship Network - from our members to our mentors - are not able to provide medical guidance. We do however want anyone who is dealing with mental health concerns either directly or indirectly to know that you are not alone and help is always out there.

So this week, keep on checking in on your mental health, and please get help when needed. The world needs your light! Here’s a video on 7 questions to ask yourself as you do a mental check-in! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUrpw8RLEDI

Remember with the right network, anything is possible!

Have a lovely week.

Team Konseye.

We will keep bringing awareness and be supportive of others going through mental health concerns, as well as be conscious of our own mental health ❤️
