Member Spotlight: Meet Akinwande Olubodun - Innovating and Inspiring Through Passion and Mentorship

We are thrilled to spotlight one of our dedicated members, Akinwande Olubodun, who is making a remarkable impact in his field and within our community. In our exclusive interview, he shares his inspiring journey, the role of mentorship in his life, and his vision for the future.

Q1: Hi Olubodun, could you tell us more about your professional background and what inspired you to pursue your current career path?

I have a robust background in food science and engineering, having pursued this field up to the postgraduate level. My deep understanding of the science behind food and its engineering processes has equipped me with a unique skill set. Until recently, I served as a manager at Blackwood Grills and Bar, a role that provided me with valuable practical experience. Now, I am transitioning into tech training and remote job opportunities, while also pursuing my passion for food security by exploring agriculture.

I believe that every experience is a valuable lesson. The skills I've honed - ranging from leadership and team management to the intricate details of food service operations - are not just limited to my past role. Instead, they represent a toolkit that I can apply across various sectors, be it in furthering my career in food science, branching into new industries, or even venturing into entrepreneurship.

Q2: How did you first hear about Konseye Mentorship Network?

Konseye Mentorship Network wasn’t entirely new to me, as I had heard about it even before joining United People Global (UPG). However, it was through UPG that I truly got introduced to Konseye and its vibrant community. From that point on, I couldn’t help but admire the remarkable work being done by Adejoké Babington Ashaye and the entire Konseye team. The dedication to mentorship and empowerment resonated deeply with me, and I knew I wanted to be a part of this impactful network.

Q3: What motivated you to join Konseye, and how long have you been a member?

During my time with the UPG Sustainability Leadership cohort, I attended a session that left a lasting impression on me. From that moment, I felt an immediate connection to Konseye's mission and knew I wanted to be part of this dynamic community. That initial spark has kept me engaged, and I've been a committed member ever since.

Q4: Can you share any memorable experiences or moments from your time with Konseye?

One memorable experience was the Member One-to-One Check-In (Elite Pass Career Check-in), a private session held at the start of the year. It offered invaluable direction and a clear sense of purpose. I also found the Vision Board session to be incredibly impactful. Both of these experiences have played a significant role in shaping my personal and professional growth.

Q5: How has being a part of Konseye impacted your professional and personal life? What skills or knowledge have you gained?

Being a part of Konseye has profoundly influenced both my professional and personal life. The wealth of knowledge and insights I've gained from the sessions and posts on www.konseye.org have been truly exceptional and greatly adaptable, which is why I’ve remained so actively engaged. The guidance and resources provided by Konseye have not only helped me grow but also empowered me to share these learnings with others, creating a ripple effect of positive impact within my community. The support and connections fostered here are invaluable, making Konseye an essential part of my journey.

Q6: What advice would you give to new members joining the Konseye Mentorship Network?

No matter where you’re coming from, the key is to be patient and proactive. Reach out, because the Konseye Team is committed to supporting every member’s success. They genuinely care about helping you achieve your goals, and they will work with you to ensure you find the guidance and resources you need. Trust in the process, and you’ll discover just how much Konseye can help you grow.

Q7: How do you believe mentorship can impact an individual's career and personal growth?

Mentorship is a powerful tool that can significantly accelerate both career and personal growth by helping you navigate challenges and avoid common pitfalls. When done right, it provides focused guidance, high-quality insights, and effective strategies that can make all the difference. If you're aiming for long-term success and meaningful progress, mentorship is essential. It’s the key to going further and achieving your goals with greater confidence and clarity.

Q8: What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I find joy in playing sports, engaging with my community, spending quality time with my family, and nurturing my faith. These activities keep me grounded and balanced, providing a well-rounded approach to life.

Q9: What are your future goals and aspirations, both professionally and personally?

My future goals include fully immersing myself in the fields of technology, particularly in training and development, as well as expanding in agriculture and exploring the value chain. On a personal level, family remains a top priority. Ultimately, my aspiration is to earn a Ph.D. in Law and Economics from a prestigious university like Harvard  , driven by my deep passion for governance and justice.

Q10: Do you have any favorite quotes or mottos that inspire you?

Absolutely! Two mottos that deeply resonate with me are: 'Where there’s a will, there’s a way' and 'When there’s life, there’s hope.' These guiding principles inspire me to navigate challenges with determination and remain motivated, no matter the obstacles.
