Becoming: Letting Intention Lead The Way

Dear Friends,
Happy Monday and welcome to the second #MondayMusing of the year. If the first weeks of January have already felt full, with plans, expectations, or competing priorities, you’re not alone. The new year often arrives with a quiet pressure to prove momentum early, to show progress before clarity has had time to settle.
This month at Konseye, we’re choosing a different rhythm. Our January theme centers on BECOMING - on your own terms. Last week, we reflected on who you are trying to become. Today, we turn our attention to how you move through that becoming. So let's talk about the difference between intention and expectation.
Expectation often comes from the outside. It’s shaped by timelines, comparison, and invisible standards about how quickly things should happen or what success should look like by now.
Intention, on the other hand, is quieter, more honest, and comes from within. The central question is: “What direction feels aligned with who I’m becoming?”
So here’s today’s question to sit with:
What intentions are you choosing for this season not because you should, but because it feels true?
Here are three ways to work with intention and ensure you are focused on intention and not expectations this week:
1. Choose one guiding intention not many.
Instead of setting multiple expectations for yourself, choose a single intention to lead with. This could be Focus, Presence, Courage, Rest, Consistency, or Curiosity. Let this intention act as a filter. When decisions arise, ask: Does this support the intention I’ve chosen? Simplicity creates clarity, and clarity reduces overwhelm.
2. Redefine what a “good week” looks like.
Expectation often ties success to output. For example, how much you completed, produced, or checked off. Intention asks a different question: How did I show up? A good week might mean honoring boundaries, having one meaningful conversation, or making steady progress without exhaustion. When you define success internally, you reclaim ownership of your time and energy.
3. Allow intention to shape your pace.
Intentional living recognizes that not everything needs to happen at once. Some seasons call for momentum; others call for consolidation. Pay attention to what your current season requires. Moving at the right pace for your season often leads to more sustainable progress and fewer course corrections later.
As you move through this Monday and into the week ahead, notice where expectation is quietly driving your decisions. Then ask yourself what might shift if intention took the lead instead. Small adjustments in mindset can have a profound impact on how the weeks, months, and year unfold.
At Konseye, we believe that intentionality is what bridges clarity and action. It’s what allows becoming to move from an idea into lived experience. This belief sits at the heart of our upcoming workshop, “Strategizing 2026: From Clarity to Action,” taking place on 25 January. The session is designed to help you translate reflection into practical direction using mental frameworks and strategic tools that support aligned action throughout the year. All participants will receive a free Action Plan Workbook, and registration is free with limited spots available.

As you continue shaping your year, we invite you to move deliberately, and with intention - not because of what’s expected of you, but because of who you’re becoming.
Wishing you a focused, grounded, and intentional week ahead.
