Session Description
Joel Kachi Benson is a visual storyteller, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and virtual reality content creator. In 2019, Kachi produced Daughters of Chibok, a virtual reality film on the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping which won the Venice Film Festival Award for Best Virtual Reality Story - becoming the first African to win the Venice Lion for Immersive Storytelling. Kachi is the Creative Director of virtual reality film studios VR360 Stories in Lagos, Nigeria. In December 2019, he was named among the New African Magazine’s 2019 Top 100 Most Influential Africans. In 2022 he co-directed with Oscar nominee Matt Ogens Disney Original Documentary titled ‘Madu,’ on the Nigerian boy whose 44-second ballet video went viral. In collaboration with Impact Partners and Hunting Lane Films, Kachi is also currently working on The Harvest, a sequel to his multi-award winning short film, Daughters of Chibok. Kachi also collaborates with various brands and organisations to tell stories of impact, including the United Nations Development Programme, Sustainable Energy for All, and the Northeast Children’s Trust. If you need to cancel attendance at the session please do so at least 24 hours prior to the session out of respect for the mentor who has voluntarily made themselves available. Failure to cancel in advance or you are a no show on the day of your session would lead to removal of booking privileges for future bookings.
