Hey Friends!
Today, we explore an intriguing concept: "Happiness Insurance" that was introduced to us by Konseye Mentor, Tayler Ava Friar during the Discovering Your Purpose webinar in July. Have you ever found yourself torn between staying in your current job for stability, even if it may not fully align with your passions? Many of us face this dilemma as we navigate the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment. Let's dive into this thought-provoking notion and find a balance between passion and stability.
Happiness is multifaceted and can take on various forms. For some, it may mean pursuing a career that aligns perfectly with their passions, while for others, it may involve finding joy and fulfillment in personal hobbies or side projects. The pursuit of happiness in one’s career is deeply personal and unique to each individual. Stability in your current job can provide a sense of security, financial soundness, and a routine you're familiar with. It may offer you the necessary resources to support yourself and your loved ones, and that's incredibly important. Where your job and passion are not in alignment, your passion project ignites a fire within you. It is something you love, something that brings you joy and fulfillment. Whether it is a creative endeavor, a business idea, or a cause close to your heart, your passion project embodies a part of who you are.
What is “Happiness Insurance”?

During the “Discovering Your Purpose” webinar, panelist and Konseye Mentor, Tayler Ava Friar introduced the concept of "Happiness Insurance" and described it beautifully:
“I feel like happiness insurance is ‘I am building something on the side, so even if my core role, I am not happy with it [...] I am planting a seed here that means that I have something to look forward to.’”
Check out this snippet where Tayler Ava explains what "Happiness Insurance" means to her and how it applies in her own world.
Balancing passion and stability can be challenging, but it is not impossible. Embracing the "Happiness Insurance" concept may help you find a middle ground. You can keep your current job as you explore and work on your passion project on the side. This approach allows you to maintain stability while nurturing your true passions. As you work on your passion project, consider taking calculated risks. Gradually devote more time and effort to your passion while ensuring you have a safety net in place to support you during the transition.
